Name inscribed on St Columb's Cathedral (Church of Ireland) Memorial to the men connected to that cathedral who died during the 1914-18 War. Name also commemorated on the Diamond War Memorial.

Son of John Allender, 10, Fountain Place, Londonderry.

Joining the colours on the outbreak of war, Lance Corporal Allender went to the Western Front with the Ulster Division in September 1915. His name was read out during a Protestant inter-denominational memorial service held, on Sunday, July 1, 1917, in St Columb's (Church of Ireland) Cathedral, Londonderry, to commemorate those Derry men who had made the supreme sacrifice during the previous year.
