Resided Woolwich. Second son of Major and Mrs W. E. Baker, formerly of West End Park, Londonderry.

Private Leslie Baker was on the staff of the Beira Railway Company, South Africa. He left Africa to join the colours, and on reaching England disembarked at Plymouth and joined the Devons. After training, he went to France and saw much active service. In September, 1917, he spent ten days leave at home, and returned to duty on October 1, 1917. His elder brother, Edwin, who volunteered for active service in the East African campaign, unfortunately died of fever whilst on active service. His father died at 78, Foyle Road, Blackheath, London, on October 23, 1920, at the age of 58.
