Buried at Bedford House Cemetery. Name inscribed on St Columb's Cathedral (Church of Ireland) Memorial to the men connected with that cathedral who died during the 1914-18 War. Name also commemorated on the Diamond War Memorial.

Son of Arthur Henry Leonard (died August 10, 1937), 68, Foyle Road, Londonderry, and Elizabeth Leonard (died September 9, 1936). Brother of David (died April 26, 1944); Albert (died December 27, 1972); Violet (died January 15, 1974); Mary (died November 28, 1985); Emily (died November 17, 1987); and Ernest W. (died May 24, 1997).

At the time of his death, Private George Leonard had two brothers serving with the colours.

Arthur H. Leonard, 68, Foyle Road, signed the 1912 Ulster Covenant pledging resistance to Home Rule for Ireland.
