Husband of Jeannie C. McCrossan (formerly Bigger, who married Lance Corporal Thomas J. McCrossan, D./ Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, at St Columb's Roman Catholic Church, Long Tower, Derry, on October 24, 1919), and father of Gladys Bruce Bigger, 7, Upper Bennett Street, Londonderry.

Robert J. Bigger was a clever advertising artist, and had only enlisted a few months before he met his death. His name was read out during a memorial service held, in St Columb's (Church of Ireland) Cathedral, Londonderry, on Sunday, June 28, 1918, to commemorate the Derry soldiers, who had been killed, or assumed dead, over the past year.
